Face the challenge: Singapore’s solution to digital ID verification

Nov 3 2020

Join iProov, Singapore GovTech and Toppan Ecquaria on Tuesday 3rd November at 9.30am GMT, 5:30pm SGT.

Digital ID verification lies at the heart of public sector transformation – supporting the shift to online delivery and service personalisation. But it’s difficult to create systems that are simple, easily accessible and 100% secure: the use of passwords and ID cards can create vulnerabilities, for example, while many citizens lack IT skills and equipment.

The government of Singapore – one of the world’s digital ID leaders – has just launched its solution: a facial verification system that confirms citizens’ identities in seconds, with access via dedicated public booths or on personal phones, tablets and computers. Available to the four million users of the ‘SingPass’ national ID system, the technology provides a gateway to Singapore’s public services – with benefits for digital inclusion, data security and the adoption of online services. And it’s also available for use by private companies, tackling fraud and boosting growth across the economy.

The system was commissioned by the Government Technology Agency of Singapore (GovTech) from facial verification provider iProov and digital transformation firm Toppan Ecquaria. At this webinar, three people at the heart of the project will explore the technology’s development, implementation and operation, and take questions from an audience of public service professionals.

Confirmed panellists:

  • Quek Sin Kwok, Senior Director of National Digital Identity, Government Technology Agency of Singapore
  • Andrew Bud CBE, Founder and CEO, iProov
  • Dr Foong Wai Keong, Managing Director, Toppan Ecquaria
