Our organization attaches great value on your privacy. Therefore, we process your personal data with care and in accordance with the applicable laws and regulations.
In our Privacy Statement, you can read which data the IND collects, for what purposes, and with whom we may share this information. You will also find information about your rights there.
By using this application, you choose to have your identity verified online. The application complies with Dutch and European safety and privacy regulations. When the identity verification is successful, you can conduct the interview at a location of your choice.
During the interview, please ensure that:
• You can speak freely and undisturbed;
• No one else is present in the room;
• Windows and doors are closed.
Face Data Collection, Use, Disclosure, Sharing, and Retention.
The application processes the following personal data: your first and last name, date of birth, gender, nationality, validity period of your identity document, a facial scan, and photo. To explicitly outline our processing of face data: the app collects photos and video data of your face, along with a selfie image, to create a biometric profile.
The planned uses of this collected face data are to uniquely identify you by authenticating your facial image against your identity document photo, and for fraud prevention. These checks may continue for up to 30 days after enrolment.
This face data will be shared with a third party, specifically our application provider iProov. The information will be stored securely on cloud infrastructure and remote systems managed by iProov located within the United Kingdom and the European Union.
Only our organization and our application provider have access to this data. By default, the data, including face data, is retained for 30 days to support security monitoring, detect abnormal behavior, and optimize system performance. No personal data is stored that could directly identify users, as this is not required for the operation of the service.
If you do not wish to use this application, or if the identity verification fails, the interview will take place at IOM in Istanbul. The outcome of the identity verification is not part of the decision-making process.
What Privacy Rights Do You Have?
Regarding your personal data, you have the right:
- to inspect;
- to adjust (rectify);
- to delete ;
- to have data processed to a limited extent;
- to transfer data to another party.
You also have the right to object to processing of your personal data.

Right to inspect
It is your right to view your personal data at the IND. Your family members may only view your file if you have given them written permission (authorisation). Parents and legal representatives may view the file of their children under the age of 16. Persons who are 16 years or older, decide about inspection (permission hereto) personally. The IND may (partially) refuse inspection of your own file if your inspection damages the privacy of someone else. Surviving relatives are not entitled to inspect the file of someone who has died.
Right to rectify
Do you think that your personal data are no longer correct or complete? Then you can ask the IND in writing to adjust the data. If we do not change the data, we will clearly explain why we don’t.
Right to delete
You can ask the IND to delete (part of) your data from the file. If we do not delete the data, we will clearly explain why we don’t.
