Times have changed. This year, the organizers are encouraging citizens to focus on four key behaviors:

- Using strong passwords and a password manager
- Updating software
- Recognizing and reporting phishing

Cybersecurity Awareness Month was launched by the National Cybersecurity Alliance and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) in October 2004 to help U.S. citizens stay secure online. Since then, other regions and countries have embraced the opportunity to promote digital safety.
